Friendly Reminder: The Herington Elementary School Kindergarten Round-Up will be Monday, April 5, 2021. The child must be five years old on or before August 31, 2021 to attend Kindergarten next term. Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up to become informed and prepared for your child’s Kindergarten year.
Each student will be given an assessment to indicate their level of readiness for Kindergarten. The screening will focus on motor skills, concepts, social/emotional skills and language. During this time, parents will fill out the enrollment form and go over medical information with the school nurse. Parents are asked to bring their child’s state-certified birth certificate, immunization records, and a recent health assessment (if available).
Appointments are required and will occur at Herington Elementary School. Please call Herington Elementary School at 785-258-3234 to schedule an appointment for Monday, April 5. The process will take approximately a half an hour.

Kindergarten and first grade students built towers from plastic cups. The students worked in teams to plan and build the towers. The tallest was 11 cups tall. After measuring the towers, we discussed what made the challenge difficult and what different materials or strategies they would use next time to make the towers taller. #breakingout
