Mrs. Gutsch's third grade class recently learned about calculating the area of objects. One project was to problem solve using area to figure out square footage in a room or an object in a room, such as the window in a door. One math lesson used Cheez-its to build a door and subtract the square footage for the window, so the builder could determine the square footage of the part of the door that needed painted and the area of the glass to install. The best part of edible math is "putting away" the building the supplies! Students were heard saying, "Math sure tasted good today" and "I have never heard a teacher say that we can eat our door now!" #BreakingOut
