Herington Middle School will open up their Volleyball and Football season tomorrow night. The Lady Jr. Railers volleyball will take on Elyria Christian and the Jr. Railers football will play Centre. HES Families: Friendly reminder that you are invited to join us for a “Lunch on the Lawn” event on Friday, September 3rd! We are encouraging families to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs up to the school and join their child for lunch. All students will have the opportunity to eat school lunch that day. Please stop by the office sometime today to purchase a visitor lunch ticket at a cost of $4.00 per ticket. Families may bring their own lunch, also. In the event of inclement weather we will make an announcement by 10:00 if we have to cancel this event for this month. Lady Railer Volleyball opened the season with a split last night. The Railers defeated Central Christian Academy of Wichita 25-11, 25-7, then lost a tough 3 set battle to Lebo 14-25, 25-21, 22-25. The Lady Railers next action is at Elyria Christian on September 7th.

Tonight we are kicking off the 2021 Herington football season with a jamboree hosted by your Railers. The Jamboree will be broken down into 3 sessions, 12 plays of offense, then 12 plays of defense. There will be a 10 minute break between each session. The following teams, St. Paul, Marais Des Cygnes Valley, and Marmaton Valley, will be traveling to Herington to play the Railer football team. We look forward to the school and community filling our stands to show support for our local athletes.

Herington High School After Prom committe will be hosting Tailagte parties before each home football game. 5:30 to 6:45pm by the entrance gate.

Football Jamboree - Friday, August 27th HHS Football will be hosting MDCV, St Paul and Marmaton Valley in a Football Jamboree. Start time of the event is 7:00 pm. GO RAILERS!!

The High School Cross County will be having a milkshake run tomorrow night at the track before the football jamboree. The run will begin at 6:45 pm. Have a great season RAILER RUNNERS!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Amy Gutsch for being selected as the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year for USD 487. Mrs. Gutsch is a third grade teacher at Herington Elementary. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for hosting another great banquet Saturday evening.
