
Congratulations to the HHS Wrestlers at the Halstead Meet. Benson taking first, Colson placed second, Justin placed fourth, Cameron placed 5th and Peyton placed 4th. HHS took 5th out of 24 teams. Awesome work Railers!!





FBLA State Officers Sophia Weber and Eleanor Silhan and HOSA State Officer Korey Meier along with FBLA Sponser Lisa Beye, attended the CTSO Citizenship Day in Topeka on Wednesday, January 11th. Sophia spoke in front of the State Board of Education on the importance of CTSO’s in a students individual plan of study.





Korey Meier is working on his Power of One projects Speak out for FCCLA. He has a goal to completing all five Power of modules. In February he will also be running for a District and State officer for FCCLA.


HHS Speech classes researched and constructed paper airplanes as part of a listening and speaking unit. Students had the opportunity to discuss why they chose a particular model and the difficulties they may have encountered while following the online instructions.

Congratulations to Damion Woods who has been selected to the 8 man All-Star Game representing the Division I East Team. The game will take place June 10th at 1:30 pm at Trojan Field in Beliot Kansas.


Herington High School hosted the State FBLA Officer Interviews today at Herington Schools. After officer interviews Sophia Weber, State President, conducted the state board meeting. Sophia Weber and Eleanor Silhan serve on the current state board. Aidan Thibodeau and Mallory Arnold are running for positions on the 2023-2024 State Board.





Fifth graders and preschoolers paired up this week for a story time. Each book had an accompanying stuffed animal for the preschoolers to hold while the fifth graders read to them. #gameonrailers

December Student of the Month - Raquel Lawrenz
Raquel Lawrenz is the daughter of Vanessa and Josh Lawrenz.
Raquel believes she was chosen because “I’m committed to my school work and participate throughout the school.”
Raquel is a freshman at Herington, who involves herself in: FBLA, FCCLA, SALT, Wrestling, Band, Drama and Dance.
Ms. Rookstool believes Raquel got student of the month because “she is highly motivated to succeed in everything she does. Raquel is an incredibly knowledgeable student and always puts in 110%. She is active in school activities and is a natural leader. On top of that, she is funny, affable, and kind!”

The middle school staff members chose 7th grader, Rubee Eggleston as the December Student of the Month. Rubee participates in cheerleading, volleyball, track, and softball. Rubee thinks she was chosen at the student of the month because she is kind to students and staff, and she helps people if they need help. Rubee also tries to encourage other student to be nice to others and helps younger students with opening their lockers and following their new schedules. She also helps other students on her teams learn the cheers or plays for their sport. Rubee is the daughter of Becca and Sam Eggleston.


The HES December student of the month is Johnathan Aumiller – kindergarten student in Mrs. Kahle’s class. Johnathan is so excited about learning new things. He watches, listens and follows directions well. If any student needs a friend or a partner, Johnathan will be the first to step up and fill that need. Johnathan is a true inspiration to our class with his positive attitude. Keep up the good work Johnathan! Johnathan is the son of Breanna Weber and Austin Aumiller.


Saturday, January 7th, Herington will be hosting it's annual High School Wrestling Tournament starting at 9:00 am. Come out and support the Railers!
