
This winter at Herington High School there were four records broken on our record boards.
Basketball records that were broke were:
Girls Basketball: Record held by Tristyn Kremeier for 3 pointers made in a season was broken by her sister Leslyn Kremeier. The new record is 59 three pointers in a season.
Boys Basketball: Record held by Derek Knopp for made field goals in a season was broken by Mason Mortensen. The new record is 160 field goals in a season.
Wrestling records that were broke were:
Record held by Darrell Melcher for victories in a season was broken by Cameron Svitak. The new record is 42 wins in a season.
Record held by Richard Hagerman for the fastest pin in a match for the weight class of 152 was broken by Colten Gehrke with a pin of seven seconds.
Watching these Railers break these high school records is nothing short of inspiring! Their hard work, perseverance, and dedication have paid off in the best way possible. So proud of everything they've accomplished!

HES students celebrated their hard work on the Herington Hearts fundraiser at the March K-5th grade assembly on Monday. Our top fundraisers were able to throw a pie in the face of Coach Alexander, Coach Batchman, and Dr. Morgan. Big thanks to everyone supporting this local organization!

Riley Jackson traveled to Conway Springs, KS to compete in state powerlifting today. He rocked it and is coming home with 2 golds, 1 silver, and a bronze medal!
- He lifted at 140lbs.
Took the gold on clean at 225 pounds.
Beat the state record for lifting 245.
- Finished 3rd on squat at 325.
- Placed first on bench and set state at 245.
- Tied for 1st overall, but weighed 3lbs heavier than the competitor, which knocked him down to 2nd place for 140lb weight total lifted!
Congratulations, Riley! You worked so hard and we are so proud of you!

Herington Elementary School has an opening for a paraeducator position in the Little Railers Preschool. The position can be a half time or full time position. This is a USD305 CKCIE cooperative paraeducator position (these positions report for duty on site at Herington Elementary School but are employed through USD305). Free Kindergarten Round-Up Event at Herington Elementary School
Kindergarten Round-Up in Herington Schools USD487 will be Wednesday, April 30th at 5:30 at Herington Elementary School. Your child must be five years old on or before August 31st, 2025 in order to attend Kindergarten next term. We will be doing an individual photo of each student signing their "letter of intent" to attend kindergarten at HES next year. We will plan on posting an individual photo of each student (with or without parents and siblings) on our school district's Facebook page. Your student will need to attend kindergarten round-up on Wednesday, April 30th in order to have their photo on the school district's Facebook page.
Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up and become informed and prepared for your child’s Kindergarten year. Students and families will have the opportunity to meet staff members and hear some important information for next year.
Parents will have some time to fill out enrollment forms and go over medical information with the school nurse. Parents are asked to bring their child’s state-certified birth certificate, immunization records, and a recent health assessment (if available).
Please call Herington Elementary School at 785-258-3234 to confirm your attendance for Kindergarten Round-Up on Wednesday, April 30th. The process will take approximately one hour.

The Baseball and Softball games at Herington will be starting at 4:00 tomorrow instead of 4:30. Come support the Railers in their home game!!

The HHS HOSA-Future Health Professionals Chapter has arrived to the 2025 Spring Leadership Conference in Manhattan, Kansas, with Chapter co-Advisor Melissa Brunner. Kansas HOSA is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. Our five HHS representatives will be participating in competitive events, attending workshops, as well as attending college and healthcare expos during the next two days. Good luck to our HHS HOSA members competing today: Alexis Sjodahl & Audrey Kamena (job seeking skills), Jakaylynn Meier & Calie Holmes (forensic science). Atalie Alexander and Alexis Sjodahl are also serving as voting delegates for the 2025-2026 Kansas HOSA Officer Team.
