The first forensics tournament is a go! The HHS team only brought 3 today to Augusta but they are strong! Stay tuned this afternoon for results!
Next Saturday, a larger team will be heading to Abilene.

Congratulations to our Herington Middle School Spelling Bee Champion, 8th grader, Parker Holmes!
The 1st runner-up was 7th grader, Rebecca Beames, and 2nd runner-up was Winter Amoyan. Other students who will be moving on to also compete in the Dickinson County Spelling Bee are 6th Graders Calie Holmes, 3rd runner-up, and Levi Cronk.
They were the top spellers out of 15 middle school students who all competed in the middle school’s Spelling Bee, on January 26.
The Dickinson County Spelling Bee will be hosted by Solomon Middle School in the Solomon High School gym, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.

o Tuesday 1/25 - Time to shine on! Wear yellow and/or sunflowers to radiate your pride for Kansas!
o Wednesday 1/26 - Home on the Range! Be a cowgirl/cowboy, farmer, or rancher.
o Thursday 1/27 - Wild About Kansas! Dress up as your favorite Kansas animal! (Kansas animal symbol ideas: https://www.kshs.org/kansapedia/kansas-symbols/17169)
o Friday 1/28 - Hats off to Kansas! Wear a special Kansas hat or clothing to show off for the final day of pride for our state!
o Saturday 1/29 - Kansas Day! Take a special trip to see something truly spectacular in Kansas. Try to go outside of your local area to check something out that is uniquely Kansas. Email a picture to Mr. Hirsch at jhirsch@usd487.org, and be entered in a drawing to win a Kansas Guidebook 2 for Explorers, signed by the authors, Marci Penner and WenDee Rowe!
• We believe we should have the staffing to resume our after school program on Monday, January 24th!
• The HES January All School Assembly will be on Friday, January 28th at 2:00! Please note the time change for this month!
• We will be celebrating the 100th day of school by welcoming students to dress up like they are 100 years old! Because of staffing challenges, here are the dates each grade level will celebrate the 100th day of school:
o Kinder, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade – Monday, January 31st
o 2nd Grade – Tuesday, February 1st

Event: HMS Basketball will travel to Centre on Monday the 24th.

Seniors, the application for the True Blue KSHSAA scholarship has been sent to your school email. We have a lot of Railers who participate in KSHSAA sponsored activities, both athletic and non-athletic. 34 scholarships will be given out this year. I encourage you to apply!
