
The HES library needs some additional 1- and 2-liter plastic bottles to use for a project at Literacy Night on Friday. If you have any you can share, please get them to the elementary school. Or, if you want to have someone pick them up at your house or work place, please call the elementary school, 785-258-3234, and ask for Mrs. Knopp. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Transportation reminder- Students riding Bus #1 will not leave school until 4 pm tomorrow (April 5th). They will be arriving home later than usual. Thank you for your understanding.

The Junior High Scholars Bowl had their final tournament today, League at Wakefield. They both represented their school with pride and honor!
The 7th grade went 4-5. Most of the rounds they lost were incredibly close! They finished out the season great!
And the 8th grade got 2nd place; League runners up!

FCCLA is in Wichita for State. Today Korey and Ashley presented their CERT presentation in Professional Presentation Star Event. Tomorrow we find out if they continue on to National Conference in San Diego.

Herington FBLA had an awesome 2022 State Conference. Nine students placed and qualified for Nationals this summer in Chicago. Sophia Weber will serve the next year as Kansas FBLA State President! Eleanor Silhan will serve as our District III VP. Great job Railer FBLA!!!

At the June 2021 Kansas State Board of Education meeting, Commissioner of Education Randy Watson announced the establishment of a Graduation Requirements Task Force, which include members of the State Board of Education, business leaders, curriculum directors, high school principals, counselors, teachers, KSHSAA, local boards of education and superintendents, charged with examining graduation requirements in Kansas from at least three different lenses:
Additional courses or deletion of courses required for graduation (if any).
Examination of competencies and multiple ways to show mastery of skills which allow students to move at their own pace and time.
Examination of any additional requirements in addition to the high school diploma (value-added assets such as industry recognized certificate, college credits, etc.)

Sophomore advisory students (Clark's Harks) completed an activity that challenged them to start a drawing, then pass that drawing to a partner. That partner continued the drawing without any direction, passing it back to the owner after some time. Students discussed the importance of communication on projects, how expectations can and will change, and how different perspectives can affect the outcome of something.
