Megan Mortensen was honored today by the Daughters of the American Revolution Dickinson County Chapter. One senior student from each high school in the county is nominated by the staff members of their school. Students are selected based on the qualities of dependability, leadership, service, and patriotism. Megan received a certificate, DAR pin, and a scholarship.

The HHS Forensics team had a great day at the Moundridge Tournament. Many were very close to breaking into finals in this large tournament. But the team did come back with some bling!
The IDA team of Sophia Weber and Tucker Morris got 4th place.
And the big win for today was Sophia Weber got 1st place in Poetry!!! She is now qualified for state champs!
The team got 6th overall with 17 teams in attendance!
Coach Hirsch is sorry he did not get a group picture today of all the other students who did fabulous!! He is extremely proud of how the team has grown over these last few months. We now have 7 events qualified for state champs and 2 events who will be going to state festival!!

HMS Student of the Month for February - Samuel Begley
The middle school staff members chose 8th grader, Samuel Begley, as the February Student of the Month. Samuel participates in Football, Wrestling, and Track. Samuel believes he was chosen as the middle school student of the month because he follows the Railway Expectations of being safe, responsible, and respectful in the classroom and on the sports field. Samuel is the son of Daniel Begley and the nephew of Rana and Matthew Zeller.


HHS Co-Students of the Month - February
Trenton Braucher and Korey Meier
Trenton Braucher is the son of Tonya Braucher.
Trenton believes he was chosen because “I do all of my work and am responsible in the classroom .”
Trenton is a junior at Herington High School, who involves himself in: Welding and FFA.
Mrs. Korgol believes Trenton was chosen for Student of the Month “because he always puts forth his best effort and does his best to have a positive attitude every day. ”

Korey Meier is the son of Elizabeth and Cris Meier.
Korey believes he was chosen because “I try really hard in all I do and make myself active in the school.”
Korey is a sophomore at Herington High School, who is involved in: Cheer, Drama, Forensics, FBLA, FCCLA, HOSA, Student Council, Cross Country, Track and Golf.
Ms. Clark believes Korey was chosen for Student of the Month “because he is active in many clubs and activities in the school, is academically driven, and can be counted on by his peers and teachers. His teachers want the best for him and we are excited to see what his future holds. I love Korey and am proud to be his teacher and advisor. ”

USD 487 is in search of instructional aides! We currently have a middle school opening and an elementary opening. Duties include (but are not limited to) classroom support and student supervision. Interested parties should obtain, complete, and return an application from/to the district office (19 N. Broadway).
