Mrs. Mortensen's second graders had a little shaving cream fun while they cleaned off their desks on the last day of school!
It's Summer! And, you can get some great books to read by visiting the Herington Public Library at 102 South Broadway.
Ms. Susan was at HES earlier this month to talk with students about summer reading programs. The theme this year is Color Our World. The youth reading programs begin on Thursday, May 29 . Students in kindergarten and younger will meet in the children's section of the library at 9 a.m. Older children will meet at 10 a.m. There also is an adult and young adult program that runs from June 2 to July 31.
Mrs. Roth’s Kindergarten class worked hard on writing and illustrating what they want to be when they grow up. The class book was then sent to a publishing company. They were so excited to get the published book back! Look how proud these authors/illustrators are!
DC MINI ART SHOW
Herington art students have work on display that is for sale through the Arts Council of Dickinson County in Abilene. ACDC has moved the show online and extended the closing date due to a high demand for bidding on student artwork. There are over 50 entries to bid on and bidding will run till May 30th at 8pm. The artwork will be ready to be picked up starting June 2nd at the art council. See the artwork submitted by HHS and HMS students below.

To say thank you to the Herington community for all their support this year, HHS students spent part of their last day cleaning up in various parts of the town. Students were at Father Padilla Park, South Park, and downtown Herington picking up trash, pulling weeds, and clearing leaves and tree limbs. Thank you to the City of Herington crew for providing guidance and trash bags. We hope to keep making this community #RailerProud!

Aidan Thibodeau was the HHS representative for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) essay contest. His essay won for Dickinson county and was sent to the state level competition. Aidan received a certificate, DAR pin, and a $300 award.

Two members of the HMS track team broke WSL track records at the league meet in Goessel this past Tuesday.
7th grader Maddox Gentz broke the LJ record with a jump of 17-05.
8th grader Jah'cure Thomas broke the TJ record with a jump of 38-09.
