HHS Student of the Month - Aidan Thibodeau Aidan is the son of Amy and Patrick Thibodeau. Aidan believes he was chosen because “I’m pretty reliable and I’ve been working hard this past month to get everything done for HOSA and FBLA. I pretty much get along with everyone and always try to have a positive mindset. One thing I enjoy is being involved within the school and community and I try to help out however I can.” Aidan is a sophomore at Herington, who involves himself in: HOSA, FBLA, Forensics, Scholars’ Bowl, Cheer, Class Officer and Drama. Mrs. Beye believes Aidan received student of the month because “he goes the extra mile in the classroom and organizations to set himself apart from others. He spends the extra time that is needed to be great! Last summer when he placed at National FBLA Contest he spent countless hours to make that happen. Aidan also is very unselfish and is willing to help others around him become great as well!” Congratulations, Aidan!

Today the HHS Forensics team competed at McPherson. The team had incredibly strong numbers, but the competition was fierce. But overall the team had a great day. The following medaled: *State Champs Qualified +State Festival Qualified *Sophia Weber-Informative-1st *Tucker Morris & Courntey Naylor-IDA-2nd *Sophia Weber-Oration-2nd +Alyssa Price-Prose-4th “Overall, we didn’t get all we wanted into finals, BUT those that did break into finals became state qualified!” Said Coach Hirsch. “The whole team needs to be completely proud of themselves. Many of them brought brand new pieces and excelled with them! It really was a great day to be a Railer!” The team now has 8 events qualified for state champs and 1 event qualified for state festival. The next completion will be at Salina South on April 11th. Go Railers!!

Please check your child's backpack. We are going to start with these grade levels, and once we see who is planning on coming we will start looking at Fourth and Fifth Grade students that qualify for summer boost. The middle school staff members chose 7th grader, Gage Billinger as the March HMS Student of the Month. Gage participates in football, basketball, student council, band, swim team, track, archery, and quiz bowl. Gage feels that he was chosen as the student of the month because he is respectful to his teachers and peers. He helps other students when they need help, and he follows the Railway expectations. Gage is the son of Sherri and Jeff Casto.

On Monday, MS Quiz Bowl traveled to Centre to compete in their Cougar Tournament. The 7th grade team went into pool play seeded 1st and finished the tournament in 3rd with only 4 out of the 6 members. The 8th grade team moved on to pool play where they lost by only 1 question. Great job to both teams. They will travel to Elyria next Monday for the Wheat State League Tournament.

HES students did a terrific job with the Herington Hearts fundraiser! We raised nearly $4,000 for this local organization! Our top three fundraisers will get to throw pie in the face of an HES staff member at our all school assembly on Friday, March 31st at 3:00. Those students were Charlie Ahrens, Addison Beardslee, and Jameson Bettles. We will work on getting prizes disbursed to the students who earned those as soon as possible. Great job, Railers!
