FCCLA spent two days in Wichita at our State conference. Thank you to Jennifer Deuanes for helping chauffeur kids around. 15 kids got the experience life outside of Herington… This is all due to help from our community that make donations and supports our organizations. So thank you for that. Big thank you to the girls and Korey whom behaved and represented Herington well.

The HES March student of the month is Nathaniel Haney – first grade student in Mrs. Martin’s class. There are so many positive things we can say about Nathaniel! He is kind to his friends, works hard on assignments, and has worked very hard to follow directions. He has grown so much this year and now shows a great deal of focus in school and knows why it's important to learn. We are very proud of him and what he has accomplished! Nathaniel is the son of Grant and Dawn Haney.

Yesterday, 4/11/23, the HHS Forensics team had a FANTASTIC evening at the Salina South Last Chance Tournament. It was one of the best tournaments the team has ever had. They took 17 events and broke into finals in 12 of them!! And prose and poetry had over 40 entries in them. It was a great day to be a railer. The following medaled: *State Champs Qualified +State Festival Qualified *Henry Nelson & Ethan Urbanek-IDA-1st +Aiden Souza-Humorous Solo-3rd Alyssa Price-Humorous Solo-5th +Aiden Thibodeau-Impromptu-6th Mallory Arnold-Oration-3rd Aiden Thibodeau-Informative-3rd Hanne McDermott-Informative-4th *Avery Monnington-Poetry-2nd *Aiden Souza-Poetry-3rd *Morgan Magnett-Poetry-4th *Aiden Souza-Prose-1st +Avery Monnington-Prose-6th Coaches Hirsch and Rookstool were over the moon with excitement! “We could not have been more proud of the kids, ALL of them. Even the ones that didn’t break, performed outstanding! There were 28 schools and hundreds of entries. The team stood proud and tall yesterday,” said Coach Hirsch. The LAST normal tournament will be on April 17th and regionals will be ok April 22nd, both at Wamego. The team has 12 qualified for state champs (16 is the max you can take) and 1 for state festival, which are on May 6th in Wichita. The next two tournament will hopefully raise both of those numbers. Go Railers!!!
