We will open the front doors at 6:30 (students will report to their classrooms) and the show will begin at 7:00 in the HES gym. Overflowing parking will be available on the HES playground parking lot and the HHS parking lot.

HHS students are counting down the days to winter break by completing "12 Days of Mindfulness & Self-Love" during advisory time. Wednesday afternoon, students discussed stress and ways to cope with those stressors. After, they hung a paper chain garland created with self-compliments written on the strips of paper (located in the HS commons).

Mrs. Mortensen's second grade celebrated winning the Big Pencil Award for November. The big pencil is given to the top elementary classroom for good behavior in the library. Mrs. Mortensen and Mrs. Barnes share the award this month due to a tie. Students realized very quickly how hard it is to write with a pencil this big!

The application for FAFSA (financial aid) for the school year of 2025-2026 is open at the following link. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa Both the student and the contributor (parent/guardian) will need to make an account. The tax return needed will be the contributor's 2023 tax return.
When the student is setting up his/her account, he/she will need to know how much money is in the student's savings and checking account. In order to send a parent/guardian an invite to complete the parent part, the student will need the parent email address, date of birth, and SSN. If the student has not set up an account yet, it will take 1 - 3 days to get verified. Once that happens, then the student will complete his/her portion and send you the invite to do the parent portion. The website has a good Q&A section and also a bot in the lower right corner that can ask questions. If either of those do not answer your question, you can email me at jpritchard@usd487.org and I will work on your question.

HES first grade students in Mrs. Hett’s class read different versions of the Stone Soup folktale! The folktale’s message is about sharing and community: that you can do more together than you can separately - which is perfect for Thanksgiving! The students helped make their own Stone Soup and did different Stone Soup themed activities throughout the day!
