With tomorrow being the last day of football camp, the whole team will not be doing our normal camp from 8-10 AM.
Instead, all football players are invited to meet at the Herington pool tomorrow from noon til 2 PM for a little pool workout and team bonding.
Athletes please bring swimming attire and footwear appropriate for the pool as well as a towel and water to drink/snacks as well, just no glass containers please.
High school football camp will be next week July 8th through 12th from 8 AM to 10 AM. All that is required by players is Cleats, athletic attire, and a water bottle.

Day One of the National FBLA Conference was spent practicing projects, touring the area and attending opening session. Tomorrow is a full day of competition. Good Luck HHS FBLA.
Some of the Herington High School FCCLA members made it to Seattle for their national conference.
Day 1 of the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference (ILC) in Houston. We attended Opening Session this evening, and learned more about nmdp (formerly “Be the Match”) - an initiative encouraging stem cell and bone marrow donation. If you’d like more information about the program, please contact Melissa Brunner, HHS HOSA advisor on how you can join the registry. Prior to opening session, Adrianna Purkeypyle attended a scholarship dinner, where she was awarded the Philip R Patton HCA Healthcare Scholarship. Only three Kansas HOSA members were awarded ILC scholarships this year, with 103 students being awarded scholarships at the international convention (of over 3,000 applicants). Tomorrow Aidan & Mallory, and Adrianna & Korey will be presenting their competitive team events in Health Education and Community Awareness. #GoRailers #hosailc2024

HES had a busy week in summer school last week! Ms. Paula showed summer school students how to make soap out of goat's milk. Students each got their own bar and could stamp it with a design. Miss Susan shared a book and showed students how to make dream boards. Finally the K-State Extension office came and showed students how to create their own ovens using aluminum foil and card board boxes. Students then got to melt their own smores!

Community Service opportunity! Remember that HHS students have to get 40 hours of community service to graduate.
HES summer boost students have enjoyed Miss Susan visiting summer school every week with a book and special activity. Students have learned about flight and tested paper airplanes. They also learned about rabbits, made a bunny craft, and got to pet some of Miss Susan's rabbits.
Reminder: Out of district enrollment is now referred to as Non-Resident or Open enrollment and is active at USD 487. New students living outside of the boundaries of USD 487 will need to apply if they wish to attend Herington schools for the upcoming school year. Applications are available on the Herington schools website (www.heringtonschools.org). Click on the "Open Enrollment App" tab to access the form.

Today was our FINAL day of exploring for the WW2 Tour. We got to do a guided tour of Paris with HEAVY traffic. The Olympics will be here in a month or so, so we were able to see all the different locations being built for the different events. We also were able to explore for a while, some getting to go to the Eiffel Tower. But one of the main highlights was going to Les Invaldes and seeing the actual tomb of THE Napoleon Bonaparte! The museum also had a HUGE collection of military artifacts ranging from the 13th century through WW2. We also got to take a beautiful cruise on the River Seine, seeing sights like the Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower Bonus: we also got a chance to ride the subway! This trip has been incredible. Thank you for following our adventures. You can be proud of our students, they were absolutely wonderful; represented Herington incredibly well. We fly out tomorrow morning! Go Railers!

Yesterday was Day 7 of the WW2 Tour. Students made their way to the City of Versailles where they were able to take in a local market with TONS of meat, veggie, fruit, and dessert stands. Then they explored one of the most historic buildings in all of France, the Palace of Versailles. They saw the king and queen living quarters and were able to explore the amazing gardens. For dinner they made their way to Paris, saw the first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower and had traditional French Crepes for supper. Today they are exploring Paris! Go Railers!
Day 6 of the WW2 Tour is the day that will stick with the students the most. Today was the Normandy Beaches. We incredibly were able to go to 3 out of 5 beaches today, Sword, Omaha, & Utah. Our kids behaved incredibly well and really felt the weight of the importance of the locations. We felt like we traveled back in time to June 6, 1944 due to TONS of WW2 era vehicles and uniformed people. We also got to go to the town of Arromanches, the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, Pointe Du Hoc, and the Utah Beach Museum. So much squeezed in, but the day was incredible. The days are winding down but we are so happy to be here WITH history! Tomorrow is the Palace of Versailles!
