Fourth graders took a field trip to the David Taylor Zoo of Emporia to meet their pen pals from Waverly Elementary School whom they’ve been writing to all year! They had a blast putting a face to the name, exchanging letters and friendship bracelets, and exploring the zoo together. Before leaving the zoo, Herington fourth graders took their Animal Wish List donations to the Zoo Education Center! As a thank you, they were all invited back for the grand opening and dedication of this new Education Center facility on May 19! The David Traylor Zoo of Emporia is always free to the public! To help offset the cost of caring for these animals, they have an “Animal Wish List” that can be found at their website. Today, fourth graders donated paper bags, canvases, pots and pans, construction paper, and a bird feeder. All of these items and many more were listed on their wish list! #LevelUpRailers
