Congratulations to the 2023 yearbook staff who received second place in the Lifetouch yearbook showcase contest in the high school division of less than 1000 students. Congratulations to the high school track team on their performance on Tuesday at our home meet. The following members won their events: Boys 4x400 relay( Sam Begley, Mason Mortensen, Pierce Schlesener, Tyus Becker), Girls 4x400 relay(Tyler Urbanek, Sienna Brown, Kora Kinchin, Hannah Pritchard), 400m dash - Sienna Brown, Long Jump - Hannah Pritchard, Triple Jump - Hannah Pritchard, 110 Hurdles - Jesse Meier, 300 Hurdles - Harley LaRosa, Pole vault - Rowdy Jackson, High Jump - Tyler Urbanek. The team earned 3 second place individual medals, and 8 third place medals. The boys team came in first place overall and their girls team finished in fourth place. Well done team!!

Top Herington Hearts fundraisers were able to choose staff member to throw a pie in their face (Miss Heitfield, Mrs. Meyer, Mr. Batchman, and Dr. Morgan). We were also able to recognize the VFW Teacher of the Year award winner - Amanda Barnes! Congratulations to Mrs. Barnes, fourth grade teacher at HES!

Free Early Childhood Education Screener and Kindergarten Round-Up at Herington Elementary School Early Childhood Screening Date: Friday, April 5th, 2024 by appointment Location: Herington Elementary School, 1403 N. D St., Herington, KS 67449 Kindergarten Round-Up Date: Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 at 5:30 Location: Herington Elementary School, 1403 N. D St., Herington, KS 67449 Early Childhood Screenings for children ages birth to five will take place on Friday, April 5th in Herington, KS. The screening is provided free of charge and will assess cognitive, motor, language, and social development as well as provide hearing, vision, and dental screenings. Please call 258-3234 to schedule an appointment. If you have a child that will turn three before August 31st, 2024 and you are interested in the Little Railers Preschool program at the elementary school, please make an appointment to have your child screened. The screening is the first step of the application process for the program. There are fee and grant based spots available for those who qualify. Application does not guarantee acceptance. Contact Mrs. Andrea Nelson or Dr. Nicholas Morgan at the elementary school with any questions at 258-3234. Kindergarten Round-Up in the Herington School District will be Wednesday, May 1st, 2024 at 5:30 at Herington Elementary School. Your child must be five years old on or before August 31st, 2024 in order to attend Kindergarten next term. Prospective students and their parents are encouraged to attend Kindergarten Round-Up and become informed and prepared for your child’s Kindergarten year. Students and families will have the opportunity to meet staff members and hear some important information for next year. Parents will have some time to fill out enrollment forms and go over medical information with the school nurse. Parents are asked to bring their child’s state-certified birth certificate, immunization records, and a recent health assessment (if available). Registration is required. We are requesting you to please call Herington Elementary School at 785-258-3234 to confirm your appointment for Kindergarten Round-Up. Current HES Kindergarten students will have a regular school day with Kindergarten continuing to be in session on Wednesday, May 1st.
