Good luck Lady Railers!

This week Mrs. Deutschendorf's class learned all about the letter M. They learned how to write it, what sound it makes, and brainstormed a list of words that all start with the letter M! To wrap up the week, they made M mice. Kindergartners did a great job coloring, cutting, and gluing the mouse together! #RailerRewind

HHS Forensics went to the Kansas State Fair today. They watched the top ranked students from around Kansas get up and perform their pieces. This is a great activity and it helps prepare them for the upcoming season. Go Railers!

Good Luck HHS Railers!!

Good Luck Lady Railer today at Solomon!

Dear families,
We’re going to Italy & Greece in Summer 2026, and you’re invited!
We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://rsvp.eftours.com/f3b9jyv
When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.
In this info session, we’ll talk about:
How this opportunity will benefit your student
What we’ll see and do on our trip
Everything that’s included in this experience
How your child can earn academic credit
How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period
There are limited spots on this trip, so we would love to have you attend this meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity!
Thanks,
Mason Hinkle

Dear USD 487 parents,
We are reaching out to remind everyone that your family may qualify for Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) benefits this year based on participation in the free and reduced-priced meals program during the 2023-24 school year. This program provides $120 in grocery assistance during the summer months when school meals are not available for income-eligible students to receive free and reduced-priced meals at school.
To receive these benefits, you must complete an application through the Department for Children and Families at: https://www.dcfapp.kees.ks.gov/apspssp/sspNonMed.portal
Act soon, because the application deadline ends on September 11th! You will be asked to provide your name, your child’s name, school, date of birth, and address. You will also be asked to report your household’s income. To apply, you do not need to provide any other documents or information, including your social security number or proof of citizenship. You will need to create an account with DCF before you can apply. Benefits will be distributed within 15 days of an application being submitted.
More information can be found through DCF’s Summer EBT fact sheet, found here: https://www.dcf.ks.gov/services/ees/Documents/Food/Summer EBT Fact Sheet.pdf
*While many families received this benefit through auto-issuance, if you believe your children qualify but have not received this benefit, please apply by September 11th.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to the Kansas Appleseed team at hkottler@kansasappleseed.org.

Congratulations to the cast of Rumors! We were blown away by the number of students that tried out for parts and hope you all know how talented you are and how proud we are of each and every one of you. Special thanks to Deb Geissert, Susan Mueller, Corkie Dunlap, and Karen Soliz for volunteering your time to serve as try-out judges. We appreciate you! See you at the show November 15-16!
