February Student of the Month - Jade Ottens Jade Ottens is the daughter of Becky Ottens and Thomas Jones. Jade thinks that she was selected because she is always keeping a positive attitude and doing her best in the classroom. She also encourages her classmates to do their best. Jade feels like this year she has done a good job of working hard in the classroom and maintaining good grades. Throughout high school, she has participated in FFA and Basketball Manager. Ms. Tobish believes that Jade was selected because she is a kind, hardworking, fun-loving young lady. I believe she got student of the month because Jade is always trying to make those around her feel welcome and included. Her classmates love her and she is a joy to work with at HHS. Congratulations, Jade!

Two HES students raised a combined $865 during the recent Hoops for Herington Hearts event. Kenley K. raised $465 to support the local program, and Amya G. contributed $400. Their efforts earned them the right to throw pies. Kenley threw a pie in the face of Mr. Stegman, PE teacher. Amya threw her pie at Mr. Morgan, HES principal. Thanks to Kenley, Amya, and all the other students who raised money for Herington Hearts. Thank you to Mr. Stegman and Mr. Morgan for organizing the event and being good sports. #growinglearners
