Mrs. Koehn's class completed an activity today that required them to draw a picture of themselves and then write descriptive words about their characteristics. Then, Mrs. Koehn cut the papers apart and mixed them up, and distributed the descriptions to the class. The final step was for students to read the descriptions and match them to the correct picture of each student! #beingallwecanbe

Mrs. Gutsch's third grade class enjoyed several beginning of the year activities. One meaningful experience was reading "Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes" and discussing how Pete does not let little things get him down. We brainstormed issues that get in our way sometimes, one of which is other people's words. Students then squirted out an entire mini tube of toothpaste (representing others' words) and were asked to put the toothpaste back into the tube. This proved almost impossible! The takeaway: choose your words wisely, because once they come out of your mouth, you can't put them back in! We can clean up the mess, but we cannot fully put the toothpaste back into the tube! Our focus is using meaningful and kind words and having a positive attitude. #beingallwecanbe
