Little Railer Preschoolers met several people who work at HES during their library time this week. Each guest read a poem about his or her role and then talked to students. This activity was done in conjunction with classroom lessons about people who work in schools. #beingallwecanbe
21 FCCLA members went to Chapman for their Fall Leadership Conference. Sarah Biehler and Tristyn Killer helped organize the even as District C FCCLA officers. They were able to listen to a great Keynote Michael Coleman. And one of the the breakout sessions they made tie blankets for the Ashby House shelter in Salina.

Lady Rails Volleyball takes care of business at Goessel defeating Canton-Galva 25-15, 25-12 and Solomon 25-9, 25-15 improving to 17-5 on the year.

Second graders in Mrs. Siegrist's reading group have been reading Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith. One activity they did was to practice reading directions by making chocolate no-bake cookies. They were assisted by Mrs. Mein's Culinary Arts students. After they finished the cookies, students shared with others. #beingallwecanbe

The students prepared grocery lists and bought the ingredients to make their very own "from-scratch" homemade pizzas. A huge thank you to Chris and Allisha and Barnes for making the field trip so much fun! #beingallwecanbe

The middle school staff members chose 6th grader, Isabelle Ecklund as the September Student of the Month. Isabelle participates in band, volleyball, basketball, student council, and swim team. Isabelle believes she was chosen as student of the month because she works hard in the classroom to get good grades, works well with classmates and teammates, and is kind and helpful to others.
Isabelle is the daughter of Ashley and Randy Ecklund.
