After extensive investigation, the school threat from Friday has not been found credible. Due to the level of anxiety created by this situation, HPD will be on campus to provide increased security. School counselors will also be available for students.

To all USD 487 parents, a general school threat was discovered, written on a picnic table, after last night's football game. Herington PD and USD 487 are actively investigating this anonymous threat. We understand this can cause a lot of emotional responses, but want to assure everyone there is no immediate danger. USD 487 staff will continue to work hard to ensure that students are safe at school. Our goal is to be transparent and forthcoming about any safety issues.

The Herington Schools faculty and staff are beginning to implement the Kansas School Redesign initiative. Our purpose for this is to make sure each student has every opportunity to succeed. We want your input! Please stop by the east side of the concession stand by the end of the first quarter of tonight’s football game (10/18/19) to jot down a few words or a sentence answering this question: What do you believe a successful USD 487 student should know and/or be able to do?

Third graders have been studying Dwight D. Eisenhower and preparing to attend the historical museum in Abilene next week for their field trip! Monday was his birthday, so students in Ms. Parks's class made cards to celebrate! They also did some re grouping subtraction and figured out he would be 129 years old if he was still alive today! Happy Birthday Dwight D. Eisenhower!!

Mrs. Coup took the Herington Middle School 8th Grade class to the Chamber Theater's ENCORE! Production at Wichita's Orpheum Theater. This production was a series of re-enactments of the classic short stories The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Necklace, The Monkey's Paw, and the Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County. This allowed students have just finished reading The Tell-Tale Heart, to see the story come to life on stage.
