🙏🚜 Thank You, Railer Community! 🚜🙏
We are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our community! So many people have reached out to donate lawn mowers for our Ag Mechanics class that we’ve actually run out of space in the shop.
Your support means the world to our students, and we are so grateful to everyone who offered to help. 💡🔧💪
Herington really does take care of its kids—thank you for investing in their learning and future!

Do you have an old push lawn mower sitting around collecting dust? Our Herington High School Ag Mechanics students would love to put it to good use!
We are looking for donations of old or non-working push lawn mowers so our students can learn valuable hands-on skills with small engines. These mowers don’t need to run—we just need them for practice, repair, and learning opportunities.
If you’d like to donate, please contact the HHS Office at 785-258-2261 or email at kgordon@usd487.org. Your donation will directly help our students gain real-world experience and prepare them for future careers!
Thank you for supporting our kids and their learning! 💡🔧💪

Parents of students in the Class of 2026, here is a link that will help you and your student complete the FAFSA application. https://studentaid.gov/articles/fafsa-for-parents/ In the lower right hand corner of the FAFSA website, you will see a help box. I have used it and it works really well with getting answers if you type in a question that you may have.

The weather didn't cooperate very well for today's Lunch on the Lawn for the elementary, so we had lunch inside instead. Families were still able to eat with their student(s) whether it be in the cafeteria, gym, or hallway.

Second grade has been studying solids and liquids in science. So they made oobleck (cornstarch and water) that is both a solid AND a liquid! Principal Mr. Andres had never experienced this and had fun learning and experimenting with the students too!

Mrs. Korgol's Earth/Space Science class participated in the Plant a Prairie project that is sponsored by the Kansas Native Plant Society. They first answered questions about the area that they were planning on planting their prairie and then they were given 8 different types of plants (4 of each) that would grow the best in the area. When they received their plants, they had to research how tall each plant could grow and how far away it needed to be placed from other plants. Then they planned for the placement of each plant. Finally, they took the plants outside and planted them. The students that participated were John Thayer, Angel Lopez, Aimyn Hamilton, and James Feniello.
