Little Railer Preschool celebrated Fall Festival with their families. They were invited to come and have snack and do an activity with their student. We made Candy Corn Faces!

H.E.S. had their October Assembly this morning in the gym. Birthdays and student shoutouts were recognized and class awards were given. Mrs. Roth's kindergarten class once again won the Library Big Pencil Award and the K-2 Lunch Tray Award, Ms. Beren's 5th grade won the 3-5 Lunch Tray Award, Mrs. Berens' 3rd grade won the Big Shoe Award for PE, and Ms. Canfield's kindergarten won the Music Whole Note Award.

Herington High School turned into a real-life game of CLUE today! 🕵️‍♀️

Students and staff spent the day investigating suspects, uncovering evidence, and trying to solve the mystery of our missing mascot!

A HUGE thank you to all of our HHS staff who played along with today's shenanigans! Your willingness to have a little fun, embrace the silliness, and keep our students guessing made the day even better! ❤️🧡

Last week the H.E.S. "Little" Railers had some "Big" Railers from the HS and MS read to them during their library time to celebrate National Anti-Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month. Mrs. Stilwell coordinated with several HS and MS students to read a selected book to the H.E.S. students and discuss positive ways to handle bullying in a variety of situations. The 2nd-3rd grade students heard and discussed the story POUT, POUT FISH AND THE BULLY, BULLY SHARK. The 4th and 5th graders listened to THE JUICE BOX BULLY and discussed ways to be an "upstander" rather than a "bystander" when seeing a bullying situation.

Last week the H.E.S. "Little" Railers had some "Big" Railers from the HS and MS read to them during their library time to celebrate National Anti-Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month. The K-1 students heard the story LLAMA, LLAMA AND THE BULLY GOAT while 2nd grade heard and discussed the story POUT, POUT FISH AND THE BULLY, BULLY SHARK. There will be a 2nd post for the older students.

First grade has been learning about day and night patterns in science. They used different materials to paint the Sun, Earth, and Moon.

USD 487 extends a heartfelt thank-you to the @Community Foundation of Dickinson County for a $6,000 grant supporting the Herington Community Childcare Center! These funds will help us make improvements to better serve our children and families. We’re grateful for your investment in our youngest learners and our community! 🧡

The 5th graders painted pumpkins for their AR party! They chose their favorite book character and painted it on a pumpkin!

HHS will host another football game this Thursday at 6:00. The Railers will host Northern Heights! Let's fill the stands for the last game of the season. GO RAILERS!

HMS 1st Quarter Awards Assembly. We will celebrate academic, football, volleyball, and cheer award winners on Friday, October 23rd.

Mrs Mein’s 8th hour culinary arts class made butter today in class.  Students seemed to enjoy this lab.

HHS Volleyball travels to Ellinwood today to compete in 2A Regionals. The Lady Railers play at 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00. Good Luck Lady Rails!
