September Breakfast/Lunch Menu


HES families are invited to join us for this year’s first “Lunch on the Lawn” event! Weather permitting, we are encouraging families to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs up to the school and join their child for lunch on Friday, September 2nd. We will have the students and family members eat lunch outside around our front entrance east of the school facility. All students will have the opportunity to eat school lunch that day. Visitor lunch tickets may be purchased by Wednesday, August 31st at a cost of $4.25 per ticket by calling the office at 785-258-3234 (payment can be sent to school with child) and a lunch ticket will be provided to you. Families may bring your own lunch, also. Here are the lunch times:
Kindergarten – 11:00-11:25
First Grade – 11:05-11:30
Second Grade – 11:35-12:00
Third Grade – 11:30-11:55
Fourth Grade – 12:00-12:25
Fifth Grade – 12:05-12:30

Mrs. Beye and Mr. Hirsch’s MTSS have been reading about the Coffee Bean Life Lessons. This book has been a good way to set the tone for their Senior Year!!





Get your 2022-2023 HHS Yearbook for $10. If high school students order and pay before September 2nd you can reserve your yearbook for $10. If not full price will paid.


The HES staff wants to give a huge thank you to Kay’s Pharmacy for providing free school supplies to all of our students again this year!


Middle School Football Parent Meeting will take place tomorrow, 8/23, at 5:30pm in the elementary cafeteria.

There will be a parent meeting for the middle school volleyball team at 5:30 pm on Tuesday August 23. The meeting will be in the HMS gym.

Reminder morning weights starts tomorrow at 6:30. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

On Saturday, Middle School STUCO members and sponsor, Ms. Hawkins had the opportunity to work the concession stand at the Brooke Gursky Memorial Softball tournament! They did a great job and had a lot of fun helping out!




Mrs. Beye’s Entrepreneurship class visited the Tri-County Trading Post to talk with the owners about possible products to sell this school year.




Support your Railers/Lady Railers as we begin the Fall Season!!! Next Thursday, August 25th!! Looking forward to a great year of Railer Activities.
Thursday, August 25th will also kick off the Lady Railers Volleyball Season with the annual Scrimmage beginning at 5:00. The public is welcome to come see the upcoming Lady Railers!

ATTN: Seniors
If you are planning on having a senior banner, we will be taking ALL senior photos for banners on Tuesday, August 16th starting at 1:00-3:45. There will be ONE banner with multiple images on it.Please meet with your coaches to get uniforms.
This includes: volleyball, football, cross country, basketball, track, golf, cheerleading, dance, and band.

HES needs teacher/cafe/library aides and paraeducators! These are very important positions for our students!

Morning weights will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:30 for this school year starting Monday, August 22nd. Thank you

HHS and HMS Fall Sports Practices for Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country, will beging Monday, August 15th at 3-45pm. MS practice will end between 5:30 and 5:45.
All student athletes competing in a fall activity must have a physical on file before they can participate in practice. Observing practice would be allowed.
Physical forms can be picked up in the HS/MS offices or at the Herington Health Clinic.
