
On October the 11th, the freshmen will take the PreACT 8/9. This assessment can be used as a predictor of scores on the ACT they will take as juniors. It is also useful to determine testing areas of strength and subject matters that may need improved upon before taking the ACT. Students will begin testing at 8:15 am.

Good afternoon, a gas line was hit earlier near Kansas Avenue. There is no danger to students or staff, but the smell of natural gas can occasionally be detected in the area. Police and Fire staff are on site to address the concern.

The first graders' reading unit covered pets and what makes them special. The students in Ms. Collins's class were able to share their own pets with the class and what makes them special! #LevelUpRailers







First graders use multiple strategies to learn their high frequency words. Two of those are word scavenger hunts and using play-doh to practice spelling the words. #LevelUpRailers

The Railer Football team brought home a win against Pretty Prairie, 52-22. This win makes the Railers 4-1 on the season. Keep up the good work Railer Football Team and Coaches!! 🏈

HMS is proud to have Averi Keiter compete in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association's Junior High Division this year. She represents HMS as she competes against hundreds of other competitors around the state in a variety of events like Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. She has already competed in 3 of 4 Fall rodeos and will continue again this Spring.

Juniors at HHS will be taking the ACT WorkKeys assessment on Wednesday October 4th. The WorkKeys is a nationally recognized credential which assesses individuals work skills and capabilities in the areas of Workplace Documents, Applied Math, and Graphic Literacy. The assessment will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Juniors will report to the HHS gym at 8:15 following advisory.

Congratulations to the HMS C Team volleyball ladies on your victory last night!! You earned that win with a team of 6th graders against a team of 7th and 8th graders and you did it in 2 sets, 25-17 and 25-21. Well done ladies!

The HMS Volleyball A-Team played very well but lost a close match to a very good Bennington squad 22-25, 16-25. B-Team girls battled hard but dropped their match 18-25, 14-25.


The HMS volleyball team will travel to Bennington today. B Team will play at 4:00p, followed by A Team, followed by C Team. Good luck ladies!

Mrs. Roth’s and Ms. Stephania’s Kindergarten classes went on a scavenger hunt in the garden this week. They used their senses and drew pictures of something they could see, hear, touch, and smell. They had so much fun searching for their objects to draw and sharing what they drew! #LevelUpRailers
