First graders in Ms. Collins’ class have had a great first few weeks of school! We read the book Our School is a Family, and completed a few activities to go along with it. Those included making a friendship bracelet, coming up with a classroom recipe for friendship, and then measuring out their own snack as a friendship snack! The students also have completed a few fun crafts, such as; a Brown Bear, Brown Bear hat, a Q-tip apple painting, and a chalk leaf rub!

Sorry, everyone. Here is the new link for the varsity games tonight — go Lady Railers!

Miss Susan visited preschool to read a book that goes along with our Pizza theme this month “Hi, Pizza Man!” The children loved the book and enjoyed her visit so much. And Miss Susan would never miss an opportunity to dress up - she participated in our HES Spirit Day by dressing as Little Bo Peep for Dress as a Nursery Rhyme Day! #LevelUpRailers

HES students showed off their school spirit by participating in the nursery rhyme character spirit day today. Tomorrow (Tuesday, 9/12) is twin day! If you don't have a twin for tomorrow, be Dr. Morgan's twin and wear your Railer gear (or orange/maroon) in support of the HHS volleyball team. #LevelUpRailers

The Herington Elementary School August student of the month is Carter Guillot – third grade student in Mrs. Steiner’s class. Carter has done an excellent job of following our Railway expectations in the classroom, hallway, restroom, café, and on the playground. Carter has really improved as a student because he works hard, listens to his teachers, and is doing his personal best. Carter has a positive attitude and treats all of his classmates respectfully and kindly. We know Carter is going to be leader this year in third grade. Carter is the son of Katrina Guillot and Marc Rodriguez.

Mrs. Beames's fifth grade students kicked off the year with some team and tower building! #LevelUpRailers

August Student of the Month - Addison Dallinga
Addison Dallinga is the daughter of Joni Dallinga.
Addison believes she was chosen because “of my willingness to help out. I always try to be as helpful as possible to whoever needs it.”
Addison is a senior at Herington High School, who involves herself in: Yearbook, Engineer Ink Photography and the Rail Cafe.
Mrs. Beye believes Addison received student of the month because “she is the type of student we love to have in our programs because she goes above and beyond each day to help others out. She is running several projects at school and is one of the most reliable people I know. She makes my job a lot easier!”
Congratulations, Addison!

Due to the fact that the JV football team played at Lyndon last night. There will not be a JV game at Herington Monday night.
