Kindergarten students did a letter scavenger hunt today. They were required to find the letters in order and use a paper plate alphabet to keep track of the letters they found. #growinglearners

At theBoard of Education meeting on Monday, fourth graders presented projects that they’ve recently completed.
Mrs. Fish’s class has been doing an entrepreneurship project in reading class. Students worked in groups to create a business.
Mrs. Kickhaefer’s students talked about the parts of an eye, and how eyes work. They have been studying the human body in science class.




HOSA students are attending the fall leadership conference today. A few of the break out sessions are on the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and LeadingAge Kansas that will focus on elder care. Leading the way is Emma Bigham who is the Kansas State HOSA President for this year. Twenty students are attending from Herington High School.



Congratulations HMS Lady Railers on their 3rd place finish at the Wheat State League Volleyball Tournament. Way to go girls and coaches!!

Middle School Cookie dough orders will be delivered to the Middle School on Wednesday, October 24th. The orders will be available for parents/guardians to pick up anytime from the middle school between 2:00 and 4:00 PM. If you cannot pick up during that time, please contact the office. HES picture retakes will be tomorrow - Tuesday, Oct. 16th. This is for all new students, students that were absent on our original picture date, and students that want a retake. If you want your student to have a retake, be sure to bring in your original full picture packet.
Mrs. Coup took all of the 8th graders to see a theater production of six short stories by the Chamber Theater Company, October 9. They
enjoyed seeing the stories “The Raven”, “The Tell-Tale Heart”, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, “The Monkey’s Paw”, “The Necklace”, and “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”. A few of these they will
be studying later in class. They loved seeing the stories come to life through live theater.

Students in Principles of Biomedical Science worked on a diabetes lab today. They are determining if the patients are diabetic and if so, if they are Type 1 or Type 2.



Students in Business Communications practiced teamwork, problem solving, and communication skills while building a leaning tower of pasta.



All scentsy fundraiser items should be going home with students on Monday, October 12th. Thanks for your support of HES PTO!
HES Parents: Mark your calendars for a Bingo Family Fun Night/PTO Fundraiser! This will be Thursday night, November 8th from 5:00-6:30 in the HES cafe and gym. We will have a free will donation hot dog meal until the food runs out and then bingo will follow. Bingo cards can be purchased for $1 each and all proceeds will go to the HES PTO. After school students can be picked up at 5:00. Hope to see you there!
Mrs. Carnes’ MTSS group gave presentations on different types of bullying. The topic of bullying was prevalent in their enrichment readings. Great job!
