
Reminder to HES Parents. The Literacy Fun Night is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Herington Elementary School. There are lots of fun activities planned including a visit from Mrs. Susan, basic First Aid with EMTs, classroom escape room, building a wind turbine, cake walks and more. Middle School Student Council will be selling Railer sweatshirts this week. Below is a picture of the order form that describes the color of the sweatshirt, a picture of the design, along with the colors of the design. The cost of each sweatshirt is $20.00 plus additional costs for sizes bigger than XL. Order forms and money are due to any of the three offices by Friday, January 17th. Middle School students will be given a sweatshirt for free from their cookie dough fundraiser. Any questions, please contact Ms. Hawkins at the Middle School.

Third grade students in Miss Parks’ class has been working hard and learning about the Arctic in science and are integrating their learnings about the region into a writing activity identifying if they would or would not like to take a vacation to this Arctic! #beingallwecanbe

The Charles McMillan Wrestling Invitational at Herington High has been cancelled for tomorrow, January 11th.

The Junior Railers drop two hard fought games to Centre tonight. The boys lose 30-31 and the girls come out on the short end 18-23. Both teams fought hard. Next action is for the Railes is Thursday at Herington vs Wakefield.

HES Families: Happy new year! We continue to have amazing things going on Herington Elementary School. On January 17th from 6:00-8:00 we will be having this year’s Literacy Night where we will be learning about inventions and entrepreneurs. Please be on the look out for our registration form coming home soon about this big event. We really hope to see you there!
Later this month, on January 23rd, the staff members will be having their monthly data analysis meetings. During this time, the students in each grave level will be working with the DK County Extension Agency and Mrs. Hanschu to make bread and butter for the upcoming Kansas Day (Jan. 29th). In order to make this successful, the Extension Agency has requested parent volunteers to help out each grade level. Here are the times each grade will be doing this:
Kindergarten/First Grade - 8:30-10:30
Second Grade/Third Grade - 1:30-3:30
Fourth Grade/Fifth Grade - 10:30-12:00, 1:00-1:30
