Herington Middle School moved into a new building in February of 1997. The new building is located on property adjacent to the high school. Having the middle school located next door to the high school has allowed more efficient utilization of facilities and shared staff members. The building contains ten classrooms, a library/media center, a 30 station computer lab, a gymnasium, storage space, and offices.
