Welcome to Fifth Grade! The first day of school will be a half day, Tuesday, August 17.
Dear Parents, I look forward to the 2010-2011 upcoming school year! In fifth grade at Herington Elementary, there are many things going on. Fifth graders participate in the Accelerated Reader and Math Facts in a Flash programs, which they will be familiar with if they attended Herington Elementary as a fourth grader. In fifth grade, we will take both Reading and Math State Assessments in the spring - this year, there will also be the State Writing Assessment! As you can probably tell, we will have a LOT to learn this upcoming year! To help prepare your student for the fifth grade, I encourage students to continue reading throughout the summer and practicing basic math facts (especially multiplication and division!). "Brushing up" on these skills a few times a week will make the start of the year go much smoother! Looking forward to meeting all of you in August, Mrs. Bettles
