HHS Scholar's Bowl

HHS competed at the 2A Regional Scholar's Bowl on Monday, Feb. 8 at Ell-Saline. There were 16 teams in attendance; the top three moved on to the state level. HHS finished the day 2-5, which was not enough wins to advance.
HHS lost to Bennington 30-60, Solomon 10-20 (tiebreaker), Moundridge 20-30, Inman 10-70, and Goessel 10-60. HHS beat Plainville 20-10 and Osborne 20-10.
Team members were Ryan Schlesener, Allen Simmons, Josh Brunner, Alex Keithline, and Kaitlyn Clark.
This was our last competition for this season.
On Thursday, January 28, the HHS team traveled to the FHL Scholar's Bowl at Council Grove. All 8 league schools were in attendance. HHS beat West Franklin, 60-20, and then lost to: Lyndon 20-30, Mission Valley 20-30 (tiebreaker), Council Grove, 20-110, Chase County, 10-90, Northern Heights, 30-45, and Osage City, 30-80.
Team members were Ryan Schlesener, Allen Simmons, Josh Brunner, Alex Keithline, and Kaitlyn Clark. Our next meet is Regionals at Ell-Saline on Feb. 4.
The team was supposed to go to Council Grove on Jan. 9, but that was canceled because of the snow.
On Jan. 16, the team traveled to Riley County for a varsity competition. There were 16 teams at the meet. Team members were: Donovan Davis, Alex Keithline, Tori Addis, and Kaitlyn Clark. They were accompanied by Assistant Coach Janet Gonzolas.
Herington lost to Riley County 30-60, Wakefield, 40-70, Cair Paravel, 20-75, Council Grove, 30-35, Clay Center, 20-30, Silver Lake, 0-30, and Hanover, 0-10.
Our next competition is Jan. 28 at Council Grove. This is the Flint Hills League meet
On Sat., Dec. 5, the HHS Scholar's Bowl team traveled to Washburn University in Topeka for the Quest competition. This competition is open to all schools in all classes. Teams compete for points, and the top 16 point winners in each class move on to the televised competition. The HHS team of Ryan Schlesener, Allen Simmons, Kaitlin Patterson, Josh Brunner, Dylan Geissert, and Alex Keithline scored 450 points. The top score in class 2A was 850 points. We did not qualify for televised competition. Deb Geissert accompanied the team. Our next competition is Jan. 9 at Council Grove.

HHS traveled to Remington for a Junior Varsity Scholar's Bowl meet on Tuesday, Nov. 17. This was a 20 team, round robin pool play tournament. HHS finished 3-6, with two of those losses on tiebreakers. Here are the results:
