Cara Meyer selected October SOTM

Sophomore Cara Meyer has been chosen by the Herington High School staff as the October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Ben and Kristi Meyer.
"Cara is a wonderful choice for student of the month because she is involved in a lot of different activities, she is strong academically and is a great role model for her peers," said Mrs. Kim Coover, Biology teacher.
Cara thinks that she was chosen for Student of the Month because she works hard and pushes herself to the limits in everything she does.
"Cara is the type of student who works hard at everything she does. She is a leader both in and out of the classroom and a great role model to to others," said Mrs. Janet Gonzolas, Sophomore English teacher.
Cara sees herself as a well-rounded person because she doesn't just focus on one thing at a time. She focuses on the big picture and being involved in many activities.
Cara participates in Drama Club, FCCLA, TSA, band, vocal, StuCo and FCA. StuCo is her favorite activity because they all lead together as one, and the StuCo group has fun.
In addition to the organizations she belongs to, she also participates in volleyball, basketball and softball.
"She is a bright, enthusiastic learner with a high motivation level, and she is a good model for other student," said Mr. James Carnes, math instructor.
The most useful thing Cara has learned in life is that in order to accomplish something, you can never give up.
Her favorite class is Biology because the class is fun, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Coover, who makes learning fun.
After high school Cara plans to attend Kansas State University and either major in business or engineering.
Other students nominated for student of the month were Seniors Tyler Barber, Alex Black, Erick Bukowski, Sarah Demadura, Katie Lyons, Hannah Nistler, Brooklyn Osburn and Allen Simmons; Juniors Felica Cates, Josh Connors, Chandler Erickson, Trevor Holland, Kaitlin Patterson and Zach Steger; Sophomore Dylan Geissert; and Freshamen Colgan Powell and Brianna Blackwell.
