H1N1 Innoculation Clinics

by Rich De Mont

October 21, 2009

Dear Parents / Caregivers:

As you know a Pandemic was declared for Influenza A (H1N1) on June 11, 2009. In compliance with this, the Health Department plans to mass vaccinate by priority group as defined by the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization

Practices (ACIP) to be:
Pregnant Women
Persons who live with or provide care for infants aged < 6 months (Parents, siblings, daycare providers)
Healthcare and Emergency medical services personnel
Persons aged 6 month-4 years
Persons aged 5 years – 18 years with medical conditions
Persons aged 25-64 years with medical conditions that put them at high risk.

First and foremost, high risk individuals will be asked to come to a predetermined vaccination site(s) to receive the vaccine for H1N1. We have been in consultation with both school superintendents and school nurses to assist in determining the number of children who have high risk medical complications as well as to establish a centralized dispensing site(s).
Vaccine availability is based upon amounts received from state and is allocated by each county’s population.

For upcoming vaccination clinics, please watch your media outlets as well as: Dickinson County Health Department website at www.dkcoks.org;
KDHE website at: http://www.kdheks.gov/H1N1/H1N1_vaccine_locations.htm

In good health,
