Rachel Gooldy a youth bowler from Junction City Bowl will be
representing the state of Kansas in the 2008 Pepsi Bowling
Championships July 14-16 in Detroit, Michigan. Rachel qualified by
finishing 2nd in the Kansas Division 1 girls match play finals on
Saturday at Northrock Lanes in Wichita. The top 2 bowlers in each
division are selected to move on to the national final. Rachel had
previously been seeded third with a 6 game qualifying score of
1389. The pepsi championships feature over 700 youth bowlers from
across the state with qualifying beginning at the local and
regional levels before moving onto state qualifying and then the
national finals. Rachel received a 250.00 scholarship for her 2nd
place finish in the state finals and will be competing with bowlers
across the country for a 3000.00 first place scholarship prize.
Rachel is an 8th grader attending Herington MIddle School. Parents
are Jay Gooldy of Junction City and Beth and Darin Schlesener of
