Five students were inducted into National Honor Society during a
homeroom ceremony on April 4 in the high school gymnasium.
The new members are sophomores Allen Simmons and Ryan Schlesener;
and juniors Jake Meyer, Amanda Vargason and Ronessa Strome.
Membership in NHS is based on the principles of scholarship,
leadership, character and service.
All students in the sophomore and junior classes who had an
accumulated grade point average of 3.5 or higher were invited to
complete an activities sheet for consideration for NHS
membership.
Once the activity sheets were completed, a committee of four
teachers determined which of the students should become members of
NHS. Neither the principals nor the NHS sponsor, Mrs. Kim Coover,
were allowed to serve on the selection committee.
Following the ceremony, new NHS members and their parents were
invited to a lunch hosted by the current NHS members.
