With 10 returning letter winners and 20 total players, the
softball team is set for a successful season.
Returning letter winners are seniors Brooke Hollis and Kara Dowell;
juniors Madison Hirt, Crysta Brockmeier, Allisha Burgess and Kylie
Kilmer; and sophomores Ashley Wey, Eryka Paige and Lacey
Bennett.
Other players include junior Amanda Vargason; sophomores Alex Black
and Lacey Garcia; and freshmen Moriah Dolbow, Kayci Schlesener,
Taylor Kickhaefer, Kaitlin Patterson, Krista Janke, Taylor Herpich,
Chandler Erickson and Allie Blythe.
The team’s goals are simple; they want a league title, regional
championship, and a state title, Coach Jeremy Harmison said.
“We will have great leadership on the team this year,” Coach
Harmison said, “our team chemistry is always great, and that is a
tribute to our leaders. These girls have a great work ethic and I’m
looking forward to a great season.”
Practice began March 3, and Coach Harmison can already see
strengths in the team.
“One of the team’s strengths will be experience. The returning
girls are a year older and more experienced. They will have more
confidence stepping on the field this season,” said Coach Harmison,
“the girls’ hitting will also continue to improve.”
The first game of the season will be a home contest against Inman
on March 28. The team has 10 regular-season events before regionals
on May 12-15. The state contest will be May 23-24. Times and
locations of the regional and state tournaments have not been
announced.
