The Vocal Department scored I-ratings on every presentation at
the Flint Hills League vocal festival Feb. 27 at Northern Heights
High School.
The choirs were judged by Dr. Julie Yu, Director of Choral
Activities at Kansas State University.
The mixed ensemble received its rating for singing two songs:
“Since First I Saw Your Face” and “Grumble Too Much.”
The Girls Ensemble sang “J’entends les Moulin”, and the Boys
Ensemble sang “Stouthearted Men”. Both received I-ratings.
Additionally, five soloists received I- ratings. They were senior
Dale Mulderrig; juniors Kady Albrecht and Allisha Burgess;
sophomore Alex Black; and freshman Taryn Siegrist. Each soloist was
required to perform two songs.
“I am pleased with how our students presented themselves and how
they sang. I was also pleased with how the Judge, Dr. Yu,
interacted with them. It was a beneficial experience,” said Mrs.
Anne Otte, vocal music director.
The vocal festival is an annual event that rotates among the league
schools.
