Senior Jessica Perry has been chosen as March’s Student of the
Month by Herington High School teachers. Jessica is the daughter of
Jesse and Margret Perry.
Teachers enjoy having Jessica in their classes because of her
personality and hard work.
“Jessica has a wonderful personality, and it is really a pleasure
having her in class. Despite the hard time I give her, I wouldn’t
trade her for any other student,” said Mr. Kelly Carland, social
studies teacher.
Jessica also does well in her extracurricular activities. Mr.
Jayson Emig said that, “she is just as involved in
extra-curricular activities as she was in her basketball
career.”
Mrs. Kimberly Coover thinks that “Jessica is a wonderful student in
A&P. She has a natural curiosity and enthusiasm that makes
learning with her a lot of fun. She is also the best classroom aide
in the world!”
Jessica is involved in volleyball, basketball, dance team,
cheerleading, FBLA, FCCLA, Student Council and Big Brothers, Big
Sisters. She has been invited to play in the Flint Hills Optimist
Club all-star basketball game.
Jessica will be headed to Kansas State University after she
graduates this year. She will be in the Pre-Health program there.
After graduating from K-State, she plans to attend KU to become a
pediatrician.
“I think I was chosen because I am active in school, I always do my
work, and I’m willing to help others,” Jessica said.
She also has some advice to her fellow students.
“Always work as hard as you can in everything you do. Doing
something halfway doesn’t help you succeed in the long run.”
Other people nominated were seniors Kaleigh Schneider, Kris
Mueller, Chrissy Eaton and Robert Barber; juniors Amanda Vargason,
Lance Shriver, Nick Trapp and Torey Berndt; sophomores Tyler
Barber, Eric Bukowski and Cece Murphy; and freshman Derek
Knopp.
Student of the Month is sponsored by National Honor Society.
