Six HMS Students qualify for the County Spelling Bee

On December 5, 29 HMS Students competed in the local spelling bee.  The students who participated were:  6th graders:  Maria Traskowsky, Shayna Kremeier, Dan Murphy, Lauren Clark, Kyler Ammann, Landin Griffith, Taylor Heitfield, Trevor Mueller, and Jessica Schellhase; 

7th graders:  Ashtyn Novotny, Kaitlyn Clark, Haley Parker, Taylor Nuss, Rikki Hart, Ramsey Timmermeyer, Austin Pierce, Cora Jones, Courtney Crosby, and Kansas Rea;  8th graders:  Josh Brunner, Dylan Geissert, Alex Gregory, Guy Filliaux, Anthony Gutsch, Kirsti Donahue, Dylan Sandoval, Audra Reber, Sarah Nistler, and Andy Henely. 

The top two spellers in each grade will advance to the County Spelling Bee on January 23, 2008 which will be held at Herington Middle School.  The HMS students advancing to the County Spelling Bee are:  8th graders:  Josh Brunner and Anthony Gutsch; 7th graders:  Courtney Crosby and Haley Parker; 6th graders:  Dan Murphy and Kyler Ammann. 

Josh Brunner placed 1st in the spelling bee, and Anthony Gutsch placed second overall.  Congratulations to all participants as well as the six student representing HMS at the County Spelling Bee.
