Herington Choral Department has singers who were selected for
select choirs recently.
The following singers were selected for the statewide Kansas Choral
Directors Honor Choir: Rachel Madrid and Katey Staatz, HHS
students; Destinee Florea, Sarah Gonzolas and Colgan Powell, HMS
students. The selection process consisted of submitting recordings
of each student, and then an approximately 200-voice choir was
selected by blind audition. Students eligible were those in grades
5-9 and whose teachers were members of Kansas Music Educators
Association. This choir will perform on Feb. 29 at Century II in
Wichita as part of the Kansas Music Educators In-Service
Workshop.
Two HHS students, Kady Albrecht, junior, and Dale Mulderrig,
senior, were chosen to be a part of the North Central District
Kansas Music Educators Honor Choir. This choir will perform on
December 1 at Manhattan High School. Kady and Dale were both
selected through live auditions on Nov. 3. Students selected for
the district honor choir are eligible for the state honor choir
which will perform on March 1, 2008 in Wichita at KMEA In-Service
Workshop.
