Herington High School has initiated a vehicle registration rule
this year, and students are encouraged to register their vehicles
in the high school office as soon as possible.
The new vehicle registration rule was made for students'
safety.
"We want to know who is parking in the school's parking lot. As
a district we have the right to all ONLY students and
staff into the lot," Assistant Principal Mark Cook said.
There is no set deadline for when the registrations have to be
returned to the school. No consequences will occur if a student
does not complete the vehicle registration form, but the principal
will talk to the students and explain the purpose of the
registration and encourage them to register.
At this point only students must fill out the vehicle
registration forms; however, staff may also be required to complete
the forms in the future.
Many schools require students to register vehicles that will be
in their parking lots, and the decision to begin the policy at
Herington was implemented in September.
