Both the Herington High School’s Mixed and Boys’ Ensemble received “I” or superior ratings at the 2A State Ensemble and Solo Festival held at Cloud County Community College, Concordia, Saturday, April 28.  The Mixed Ensemble sang, “Throw Open Your Shutters” by Bernon and the Boys’ Ensemble sang “Yellow Bird,” arranged by Davison.  The judge indicated that the Mixed Ensemble rated a “I+” for their performance. 

    The Girls’ Ensemble, who sang “Oh, Dear! What Can the Matter Be?” arranged by Collins,  received a “II+” rating from the judge.  Soloists Kady Albrecht, Katie Cowan and Dale Mulderrig received” II’s” (excellent) ratings, while Arevik Danielyan received a “III” or good rating. 

    In the audience for the performances were several parents who made the trip to Concordia that day.  Piano accompanist for the ensembles and soloists was Mrs. Otte.

The ensembles and soloists will perform in concert on Thursday, May 3 at 7 pm, Hilltop Auditorium, and they will sing some of the selections performed at festival.
