Welcome to Parents as Teachers
Welcome to Parents As Teachers!
Being a parent is hard work.
Parents As Teachers is here to help you!
Parents As Teachers (PAT) is a completely voluntary program for all families based on the belief that parents are their childs first and most influential teachers. It is our goal to help you give your child the best possible start in life.
Parents As Teachers is a free parent education and family support program serving families throughout pregnancy until their child turns three years old. Our program is funded through local school district funds and federal grants.
As a PAT family, you receive:
*Personal Visits during which your parent educator will share age-appropriate child development and parenting information, help you learn to observe your child, and address your parenting concerns.
*Parent group meetings which are opportunities to share information about parenting issues and child development. Parents learn and support each other, observe their children with other children and practice parenting skills.
*Screenings to assess your childs overall development as well as health, hearing, and vision.
*Resource Network that links your family to other community services.
Families locally served:
*USD #487 Herington
*USD #481 Rural Vista
All families in and around the communities of
Herington, Hope, Woodbine and White City
are welcome to join our program.
