PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
COMMITTEE
April 18, 2005
The monthly meeting of the PDC was held Monday, April 18, 2005, at
the Board of Education. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 by
Chairperson Rolinda Lapham.
Those in attendance were: Beth Blackwell, Linda Carlson, Rich
DeMont, Bill Ellis, Gerri Gaul, Janet Gonzolas, DeAn Knopp, Rolinda
Lapham, Carolyn Nelson, and Scott Carter.
Minutes of the February 21, 2005 meeting were approved.

Building reports included: HES - Learning How to do CRT's. (Second
and third days will be in August) April 28/29 is the KSDE
conference in Wichita. Deb and DeAn will attend on the 28th, and
Rolinda and Beth on the 29th. A second IBB session is scheduled for
April 29.
In new business, officers for 2005-2006 were elected. Rolinda will
continue as chairperson (Carlson/Nelson), Bill Ellis will serve as
Vice-chairperson (DeMont/Carter), and Deb will continue as
recording secretary (Carter/Blackwell). Deb will serve as high
school building representative, and the elementary needs a
representative because Linda is retiring.
IDP points were awarded, by building reps, after the meeting was
adjourned.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:30. (DeMont/Carlson)
The next PDC meeting will be the third Monday in August, 2005 at
3:45 at the BOE office.

November 15, 2004
4:00 - 4:45 p.m.
The meeting of the PDC was
held Monday, November 15, 2004, in the computer lab at Herington
MIddle School. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson
Rolinda Lapham.
Those in attendance at the meeting were: Gwenn Belton, Beth
Blackwell,, Rich DeMont, Bill Ellis, Gerri Gaul, DeAn Knopp,
Rolinda Lapham, and Carolyn Nelson.
Absent from the meeting were: L. Carlson, D. Geissert, J. Gonzolas,
and S. Carter.
Unfinished Business
Gerri Gaul moved (Blackwell) to amend the minutes of the Aug. 23
meeting as follows: the date of the Feb. inservice should be21.
New Business
PDC members received required PDC training, presented by Rolinda
Lapham. All members viewed and discussed the KSDE power point
presentation detailing PDC changes and requirements.
Nov. 23 has been approved as an early release day for inservice.
HES will work on: Otter Creek, paraphrasing, Wise problem solving,
Phonics, and Writing Strategies. HMS will work on: IDEAS - math
intervention. HHS will work on reading strategies and math problem
solving strategies.
Connie Beavers, Gwen Belton, Kim Coover, and Kris Burkholder will
be attending a Brain Research workshop on January 14-17, 2005.
Members approved points for those forms turned in as of this
time.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
The next PDC meeting will be Monday, February 21, 2004.

February 21, 2005
The monthly meeting of the PDC
was held Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 in the HMS library. The meeting was
called to order by Chairperson Rolinda Lapman.
Those present were: Gwen Belton, Beth Blackwell, Rich DeMont, Bill
Ellis, Geri Gaul, Debra Geissert,Janet Gonzolas, Rolinda Lapham,
Carolyn Nelson, and Scott Carter.
The minutes of the November meeting (with the date of the February
meeting corrected) and this meeting will be approved at the April
meeting.
The district would like to send teachers to the KSDE conference in
April. Also, the district would like to continue to send teachers
to the brain-based learning workshops. This summer, the workshop
will be in Austin, and next January the workshop will be in San
Diego.
Officers for the 2005-2006 school year will be elected at the May
meeting. Also, HES will need a representative to take over for
Linda Carlson. Deb Geissert's three year term is up, but if no one
else is interested she will continue to serve on the committee.
IDP BOOKS ARE DUE TO BUILDING REPRESENTATIVES BY APRIL 15.
The next PDC meeting will be Monday, April 18, 2005 at 3:45 at the
BOE office. IDP Points will be awarded.
